With over 25 years of expertise as a medical practitioner, including 20 years as a practice owner, Dr Sean Stevens (GP) brings extensive experience in medical leadership and healthcare innovation. His former practice was named Australian General Practice of the Year, and he was awarded the GPET Australian GP Supervisor of the Year by the RACGP in 2005. Dr Stevens is also one of the founders of one of Australia’s most popular GP podcasts, The Good GP, which has recorded over 200 episodes and garnered more than 1 million downloads.
Outside of work, Sean loves socialising, spending time with his young family, and he enjoys cycling and travelling.
With an impressive background spanning clinical practice, executive leadership, and medical administration, Dr Stevens is highly regarded across the healthcare sector. He played a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic as Chair of the WA Faculty of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), the peak body representing 4,000 GPs in WA and 40,000 nationally. He oversaw the primary care response and implemented innovative communication channels to share information quickly. Dr Sean Stevens has also served as Deputy Chair of the WA Faculty for four years and as Chair of the RACGP Education Committee for six years.
Dr Stevens’ career reflects a strong commitment to teaching, effective governance, and the integration of digital health. With a deep passion for mentoring, Dr Stevens has supervised over 30 doctors on their path to becoming specialist GPs and has been recognised for his commitment to education and excellence in primary care. A Fellow of the RACGP and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Dr Stevens brings valuable governance experience from his tenure as an RACGP Board Member, where he helped set strategic direction for more than 40,000 members. As Chair of the RACGP Digital Health and Innovation Special Interest Group, he is also actively involved in integrating emerging technologies into general practice.
