With busy schedules and endless responsibilities, many men may push through long days without thinking twice. But putting your health on the back burner can lead to serious consequences. This is why our expert team at Grove Medical offers a comprehensive range of men’s health services, including checkups, screening tests, and vaccinations, to support your journey to better health.

Men’s Health Services We Provide

Our wide range of tailored health services is designed to address both common and complex health concerns of men across all stages of life.

Preventive Care and Screening

  • Routine men’s health checkups: We conduct routine checkups (e.g., blood pressure measurements, lipid profiles, and ECGs) to monitor your health and screen for conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, and other underlying health issues.
  • Skin checks: Living in a country with some of the highest skin cancer rates globally¹, we ensure you receive thorough skin checks to detect early signs of cancer and other skin concerns, such as eczema and psoriasis.
  • Vaccinations: Keeping up with vaccines is key to staying healthy, which is why we offer a wide range of essential immunisations, including flu,  whooping cough, hepatitis, and measles, to maintain lifelong health protection.
  • Hepatitis C screening: With many infected patients presenting without any symptoms, we provide hepatitis C (HCV) tests for those at high risk, enabling early diagnosis and treatment.
  • Testicular cancer screening: Testicular cancer is commonly found in younger men, particularly those aged between 15 and 45, which is why we offer screening for those with high-risk factors. We also offer guidance on how to perform a testicular self-examination.
  • Prostate cancer screening: As prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, we facilitate screening discussions to help patients weigh the benefits and risks of screening (PSA test) and subsequent treatment. While there’s no single test to detect prostate cancer, the most common tests are the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test and digital rectal examination (DRE).
  • Bowel cancer screening: With the risk of bowel cancer increasing significantly in men after age 50, we provide screening to detect the disease early and improve outcomes.
  • Preventive health education: Recognising the unique health challenges men face, we offer preventive health guidance to promote awareness and maintain well-being at every stage of life.

Reproductive and Sexual Health

  • Sexual health: Our care covers a wide range of common men’s health concerns, including hormonal or endocrine issues, while also offering fertility counselling and sexual health education.
  • Erectile Dysfunction: For individuals struggling with impotence, our erectile dysfunction clinic in Perth provides specialised assessment and treatment based on their individual health needs.
  • Contraception: We guide men through their contraceptive options (condom/vasectomy), helping them choose the method that best fits their needs and lifestyle.
  • STD (sexually transmitted disease) testing: For those who are sexually active, we offer STD testing in a safe and supportive environment, helping you maintain sexual health and prevent complications.

Adolescents and Young Adults’ Health

  • Sexual health: Our services include testing for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), contraception counselling and sexual health education tailored to teens and young adults.
  • Alcohol and drug use: Our men’s health clinic in Perth provides the support necessary to help young men manage substance use and make lasting, positive changes to their lives.
  • Tobacco use: We provide personalised strategies and support for men looking to reduce or quit smoking and improve overall health.

Men’s Mental Health and Well-Being

  • Mental healthcare (GP consultation): We provide a safe, caring, and non-judgmental environment where you can openly discuss your mental health concerns, such as depression, PTSD, and anxiety, with our trusted clinicians.
  • Psychology and counselling referrals: With individualised mental health treatment plans, we offer access to Medicare-subsidised psychology services so that you get the support you need.

Other Men’s Health Services

  • Referrals to local specialists: We coordinate care with trusted local specialists for vision and hearing tests, as well as DEXA scans (to assess the risk of osteoporosis), making it easier to manage your health.
  • Allied health (diet and nutrition for men’s health needs): Our Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) offers personalised support for a range of men’s health concerns, including issues such as insulin resistance, eating disorders like orthorexia (an unhealthy obsession with ‘clean’ or healthy eating), and other lifestyle-related nutrition challenges.
